Our 4th of July

It was unlike any other. Our plans were spur of the moment and we decided to lay low this year. My goal was to teach my 6 year old and 4 year old how to swim WITHOUT float'ys! I was determined to do so and amazing enough, today was the day they learned.
If you take time with your children and teach them the quality of life, they will understand, know and eventually pass it on to their children. This is what life is about. Parents need to become more involved with their children these days and stop thinking so much of themselves first. It's not about the money and it's not about who does what. It's about again, that quality time you spend with them, nurturing and raising them to be better than you were. Don't get me wrong, money has a lot to do with it, oh yes. Because children today are expensive. Everything costs money when planning and organizing events with your children. It just depends on how you spend it and what your delivering to your child while you're spending the money and time on them.

Here was how today looked in our little world and I can tell you my kiddos loved and appreciated every minute of it!
In the morning we slept in while the kiddos climbed in between us and just enjoyed family lazy time. A cousin spent the night as we watched and we enjoyed her company. Decided to take the kiddos swimming last minute instead of the beach in all the crowd. Got dressed and they helped grab all their swimming toys and clothes. Gathered things to enjoy a nice quiet family BBQ. We left for their dad’s mom’s apartment pool hoping we would be the only one’s there. Sure enough, we were and we had the whole pool all to ourselves! We swam for hours and my cousin (Tami) and I taught them how to swim. The entire day they were swimming with no floatie’s and they were having the time of their lives! It’s times like these that bring us closer together. I will never change these memories for anything else in the world!

Before dark we cleaned up and visited my Uncle's house where we saw some family and the kiddos were able to mingle with their little cousins (same age range). We ended up watching the fireworks show at the HEB parking lot from the firework display at a park across the way. The kiddos were exhausted after this day was over and so were we!
